An adaptation deal in the Philippines
Manila Bulletin (Philippines): The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the provincial government of Albay have signed two memoranda of agreement (MoA) to establish collaborative programs on climate change adaptation and preservation of mangrove plantations in the province.
The signing of the MoA on Comprehensive Partnership on Climate Change and Countryside Development was led by Environment Undersecretary Demetrio Ignacio and Albay Gov. Joey Salceda.
The agreement on the Establishment, Enrichment, and Protection of Mangrove Forests and Plantations in the province was signed between Salceda and DENR-Bicol Region (Region 5) Executive Director Joselin Marcus Fragada. Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile witnessed the signing of the agreements.
Salceda said the agreements affirmed Albay’s commitment to climate change adaptation as the centerpiece program for safe and shared development mode. Under the first MOA, Albay and DENR will conduct collaborative programs, pooling their resources to implement climate change adaptation and countryside development agenda dubbed as DENR-Albay Comprehensive Partnership Program…..
