Nepal gets Euro 16.5m for project on climate change
The Himalayan Online: The United Kingdom and the European Union (EU) have extended a grant assistance of Euro 16.5 million (NRS 1.8 billion) to Nepal for the implementation of Nepal Climate Change Support Programme (NCCSP): Building Climate Resilience in Nepal.
Finance Secretary Krishna Hari Banskota and DFID’s Nepal head Dominic O'Neil signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of their respective governments in presence of the EU Delegation to Nepal at the Ministry of Finance here in the Capital on Tuesday. The agreement between Nepal and the EU was already signed on December 26, 2011.
Out of the total grant assistance, the UK will provide Euro 7.9 million and the EU will provide Euro 8.6 million.
The NCCSP is aimed to enable the poorest and most vulnerable communities in the most climate vulnerable districts of the Mid- and Far Western regions to adapt to the effects of climate change, by supporting local level adaptation programme....
