Flood in Nigeria

The incident, it was gathered, necessitated the immediate relocation of the victims to the Hajj Transit Camp, off Western Reservoir road, Adewole Ilorin. As at yesterday, over 1200 victims registered at the camp. It would be recalled that a similar incident but of a lesser magnitude occurred in Ilorin on September 6, destroying several properties.

The state government has already taken up the responsibility for the feeding and general well being of the displaced persons now taking solace at the camp. The victims through their representative Alhaji Salmanu Akande, however, pleaded with the state government to relocate them permanently, even as they ex-pressed gratitude to Governor Bukola Saraki for his assistance to them now and in September 6, when the first flooding occurred….
