Pakistan's climate panel members visit flood-hit areas
Pakistan Observer: The four-member sub-committee of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Climate Change visited the flood-affected districts of Kashmore-Kandhkot and Jaccobabad to determine damages and suggest remedial measures. The committee was led by its Chairperson MNA Dr Mehreen Bhutto and included Dr Lal Chand, Gul Muhammad Jakhrani and Syed Tayyab Hussain. The Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Dr Zafar Qadir, and DG PDMA Kashif Gulzar accompanied them.
Mehreen Bhutto said PPP led-government was aware of the destruction caused by flash floods triggered by torrential rains in northern parts of the province, and taking all measures to rehabilitate the displaced people. She said the government was carrying out rescue and relief work with its own resources and more ration would be provided by PDMA within 15 days to the affected people. Chairman NDMA Dr Zafar Qadir said the government is helping them to move towards effective disaster response plans and policies both in the centre and the provinces....
