The Philippines prepares for typhoon season
Philippine Information Agency: Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) and Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) Chair Rosario T. Cabrera advised again local disaster management councils in the region to monitor the situation in their respective areas of responsibility and take appropriate actions during bad weather conditions.
Cabrera reiterated the advice with the advent of the rainy and typhoon months from June to October. Typhoons that enter the country’s jurisdiction generally affect a wide area, sometimes half of the archipelago.
She told their local counterparts in the provinces, cities and municipalities to conduct close monitoring activities once there are advisories from the regional disaster management council, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and other warning agencies.
She advised them to see to it that preparedness and mitigation systems including those for warning and communication, evacuation and resources are in place….
