Gender, climate change and natural disasters
An op-ed piece by Kellie Tranter in On-line Opinion ("Australia's e-journal of social and political debate") dwells on the gender disparities in climate change impacts and in disasters more generally. She points that sexist mores and customs are behind much of the ill-effects on women, from their traditional roles as preparers of food, luggers of water, caregivers etc. She has a few links to some of the recent work on this under-reported topic.
