A Recurring Meme: Adaptation Only

An article from a rightwing "free market" blog sounds a tune that we'll hear more of in the years ahead -- no government action or regulation to cut carbon emissions. The idea is that we should put all our effort into adapting to the alleged impacts of climate change, and not attempt to mitigate carbon emissions. The author points out the market distortions and system-gaming that mar today's carbon markets, but the moral he draws is, "Responsible statesmen should acknowledge the futility of trying to use government action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions."

This meme offers skeptics a new tool for creating confusion: be on the lookout!
