Ghana to implement climate change project
Ghana Web: A climate change resilience project dubbed: “Water, Climate and Development Project,” has been launched in Bolgatanga. The project would be implemented over a three-year period at Bongo and Bawku West Districts and Bawku Municipality where flooding and other forms of climate related impacts are experienced by the people.
The 600,000- Euro project would born by Australian Development Agency, DANIDA and DFID. It would among other things foster strong linkage between water resources and the climate and integrate water security and climate resilience into development planning and decision making processes.
Given the overview of the project, the Chairman of the Water Partnership Ghana, Mr Nii Boi Ayibotele, said the project would select planning and other relevant staff from the beneficiary assemblies and the water and related sector ministries.
It would build capacity for the assemblies to undertake water security screening, climate resilience screening, investment analysis, project preparation and financing. He said the key focal areas of the project would include wetlands and water resources management, waste management, pollution and noise reduction....
