Thailand urges regional disaster preparation
Wanwisa Ngamsangchaikit in TTR Weekly (Thailand): Ministry of Interior’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation calls for more support from the ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management, to generate intra-regional cooperation to tackle future natural disasters.
DDPM general director, Viboon Sanguanpong, said Thailand has the chair of the ACDM, this year, so the department will propose a stronger regional approach to disaster management.
“DDPM will encourage ways to provide assistance to member nations that suffer large-scale disasters in the future, he said.”
Mr Viboon added: “We will need to cooperate with the UN and the East Asia Summit, to offer timely help to ASEAN member countries when disaster hits.”...
